ITS 4910 - Information Trends/Research and Design Project
Module 5
This lesson presents some background on the fifth week.
Objectives important to this lesson:
- What is this week about?
- Current assignments
Concepts:
This week you are assigned to create security procedures for DMZ equipment and tools
that are being recommended in your document from Module 1. Take this
opportunity to revise that document which included a list of
infrastructure devices needed for your network plan.
A procedure is a set of rules,
and potentially a set of instructions,
for the operation of a system or device. In this case, you are writing
about security, access rules, configuration, operation, and maintenance
of devices. The template provided for this assignment only addresses
routers. It should be adapted and modified for each of the other device
types.
This level of documentation is more detailed and specific than
the policy statement from two weeks ago. In this case, you need to
focus for a few minutes on each device type. Explain what the
operations staff need to know. This set of documents will not
be seen by general staff in the company. The information in them is
only for technical staff who need to know or need to inform others that
they do not need to know how our defenses work.
There is a rubric specific to this assignment. It is shown on
the assignment page in Canvas.

In the image above, I am showing you the top three grading
elements for the assignment. They correspond to an A, a B, and a C
response. Use this as a reference for your work. Before submitting your
work, make sure you have done your best.
